Academic Interest:
Dr. Elizabeth Battles came to Wesleyan in 1992.  Her research and teaching interests are in Victorian Literature, especially the 19th century novel, Women’s Studies, and Rhetoric and Composition.

Dr. Battles is currently serving as the director to of the Wesleyan Scholars Honors Program and has served as Chair of the Faculty Assembly and on various standing committees of the university including Faculty Council, Academic Affairs, Student Publications, Tenure, Promotion and Academic Freedom, and Scholarships and Financial Aid.  In addition, Dr. Battles has served on ad hoc committees such as the Women’s Studies Task Force, the Handbook Revisions Committee, the Honors Program Committee, and University College Day Committee.  She serves as Academic Advisor for Alpha Lambda Delta, the Freshman honor society.

Personal Interest:
Dr. Battles’s primary personal interests are her husband and three sons.  She also enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, and running.
