Texas College English Association

The TCEA, a rapidly growing organization, is the Texas affiliate of the national College English Association.  Meeting in conjunction with the Texas-based Conference of College Teachers of English on the first weekend of March each year, TCEA hosts a breakfast and morning speaker and organizes several sessions of scholarly papers and creative writing by and/or about Texas scholars and writers.  This coming year’s conference, February 28-MARCH 1, 2008, has as its theme: (see Call for Papers).  One of the presented papers from the TCEA sessions is also selected for inclusion in CCTE Studies, published in the fall of the conference year.

Also at the annual conference, TCEA presents the prestigious Joe D. Thomas Scholar/Teacher of the Year Award (guidelines).

In addition, TCEA is currently developing a new on-line scholarly publication entitled Scholarship and Creativity on Line: a Journal of the Texas College English Association, scheduled to be up by Fall, 2006. Submissions to SCOL will be open to current TCEA members, though on-line access is open to all.
